Continued consolidation in the US distribution sector presents ‘an issue’ for the spirits sector in the country, John Glaser, founder of whisky blending business Compass Box, has said.
Glaser accurately points out how the distributor consolidation has adversely impacted the route to market for smaller brands. This is why we stand by our unique model of brand seeding and management and focused sales teams for new brands. There is just no other effective way to introduce brands to the market. In 2017 we will see more new brands skipping the traditional distribution format altogether and the rise of service based compliance services such as Park Street Imports (www.parkstreet.com) as the ideal solution for new or emerging brands.
